In Luxury:
A Reimagined Staycation

Indulging in the reimagined Phipps Plaza was nothing short of a captivating journey for my husband, Rick, and me.

As representatives of Flourish Digital Magazine, we embarked on a two-day adventure that transported us into the future of luxury and entertainment right in the heart of Buckhead, Atlanta, Georgia.

Our excursion began with the feel of international elegance that greeted us at the entrance of Nobu Hotel, setting the tone for what lay ahead. Nobu Atlanta, a haven for both business and leisure, unfolded its Japanese-inspired design from the lobby to the villa, complete with a spectacular restaurant, bar, and lounge, creating an atmosphere of sophistication.

Our stay was a carefully curated experience, and every moment was a delightful unveiling. Upon checking into our suite, we admired its simple yet elegant design and space. The anticipation in the air was palpable between the two of us (Rick, with his camera was ready to represent) so we hurried downstairs, eager to dive into our adventure that had been pre-planned for us.

Nobu’s Porsche King & Life Time Work

The transformation of Phipps Plaza into the Lifetime Athletic Country Club and Life Time Work seems like a mind-blowing feat because it is a totally “reimagined” space that was once occupied by stores like Parisians and Belk. Indeed, it had undergone a breathtaking metamorphosis into a functional and elegant athletic country club; and not just any country club. It is “the” athletic country club.

Our day began with a healthy and delicious lunch, complete with champagne, followed by an extensive tour of the Life Time facility. I even surprised myself by “actively” participating in a yoga session, showcasing my newfound flexibility, while Rick was inspired by the offerings at Lifetime – a fitness haven and a unique co-working concept. He became a member on the spot. And I think I will also enjoy the vibrant energy of its members and the space itself, and, of course, yoga, pilates, some cardio, and all the wonderful networking.

And then there was the shopping! Phipps Plaza, just a leisurely stroll through The Green from Nobu Hotel, felt like a haven for those who adore luxury and exclusivity. If you can’t find what you desire there, a complimentary ride in one of Nobu’s Porsches will whisk you across Peachtree Street to the equally upscale Lenox Square mall, another masterpiece by Simon Center.

Our first day was filled with wonderful experiences, including a rejuvenating nap before cocktail hour at Citizens Market, an upscale dining hall offering culinary delights from renowned chefs.

However, the true highlight awaited us – a tour of the luxurious Nobu suites and the breathtaking Nobu Villa. With its open space for entertaining, grand piano, and panoramic views of Buckhead and beyond, the villa left me with many fabulous ideas for Flourish Digital Magazine experiences. We basked in the rooftop terrace and pool area, and enjoyed the stunning vistas before descending to the renowned Nobu Restaurant.

There, we savored signature cocktails and embarked on a culinary journey with flavors that linger on my palate, a delicious memory. From black cod miso to rock shrimp tempura and yellowtail sashimi, each dish was a masterpiece that celebrated flavors and artistry.

The culinary experience continued with an after-party at the Nobu Villa penthouse, where dessert, drinks, and camaraderie flowed in abundance. But the luxury experience didn’t end there either; another day awaited us.

Our second day began with a leisurely stroll across The Green to Alon’s Bakery for coffee and croissants, followed by an exploration of the mall’s latest attraction – the LEGO Discovery Center, a first in America. We wandered through the mall as if we were tourists, absorbing the luxury designer shops at every turn before returning back to The Green and Citizens Market for lunch.

By now, I had grown accustomed to the continuous pampering and luxury that surrounded us. As we bid farewell to our lovely suite, we were invited back to the rooftop private cabanas at Life Time Athletic Club to reconnect with other media on the tour and to enjoy a last cocktail, bringing our fabulous staycation to a wonderful close.

In the embrace of the reimagined Phipps Plaza, Rick and I flourished in an epicurean delight, cherishing each moment of luxury and adventure in our own city. It was an experience that will linger, a testament to the possibilities and magnificence of Atlanta.
