Georgia State Representative, financial educator, & entrepreneur

For her entire life, Doreen Carter has affectionately called DeKalb County home. As a proud Georgian hailing from the city of Atlanta, she has worked tirelessly for the educational, financial and spiritual advancement and empowerment of the people in her community.

As part of her mission to serve her community, Doreen was elected to the Lithonia City Council and led several safety and economic development initiatives. In 2014, she won the Democratic nomination for Secretary of State, and soon made national history as one of “the Georgia Five”—the first time ever that five Black women were simultaneously on the ballot in a major party in the United States. Currently, Doreen serves as the State Representative for House District 92 in the Georgia General Assembly.
