The covid-19 crisis has changed the world in so many ways. The challenges have been more difficult for working mothers and women of color. Before the pandemic, mothers were working double shifts: a full day of work, then taking care of children and the household. Without childcare, the line between work and home has become blurred—leaving many women struggling with burnout.
Since women are overrepresented in the restaurant, hospitality, and retail industries, women have been more vulnerable to job loss than men. Women, especially women of color, are more likely to have been laid off or furloughed, stalling their careers and jeopardizing their financial security.
