More women than ever are earning college and graduate degrees. We make up nearly half of the workforce. And we hold more than half of the management and professional careers.[1] But women still face obstacles when it comes to our finances.

Women earn 82 cents for every $1 earned by a man. That means we have to work an extra 47 days to earn the same amount that men do.[1] We take time away from our careers to care for our children, parents, and partners. These interruptions in our careers can significantly impact our chances for promotions, our ability to earn higher income levels, and for some women, vesting in full retirement benefits.[2]

The median annual salary for men is around $50,000. At 82 cents for every $1 earned by a man, the median annual salary for women is around $40,000.[1] For someone taking care of a family, how significant do you think that extra $10,000 would be?
